Dr. Jesus Lozano Fernandez
Beatriu de Pinós Fellow My research experience is mostly based in the study of animal’s origin and their evolution. I am interested in the evolutionary processes that lead to developmental changes and hence biodiversity generation along animal history. So far, I studied the origin of metamorphosis, which allowed insects conquering the air, and the terrestrialisation process of arthropods, which allowed them to radiate on land generating most of the current biodiversity. At present, I am working working on the origin of animals and fungi as a research fellow at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology (CSIC-UPF) of Barcelona, and I am a honorary researcher at the University of Bristol, keeping my former links with the Bristol's Palaeobiology Research Group. |
